FLCC gravel rides focus on fun and adventure, exploring gravel roads and trails around Ithaca. A typical ride splits into two groups, one with a relaxed pace and one with a more moderate pace. Rides are no-drop and start at 6pm, weather-permitting. A typical ride is a loop of about 20 miles with about 2,000 feet of climbing. Early-season rides build up to this, while mid-season rides may be longer when the late sunset allows. FLCC is organizing social weekend rides from May—September in 2025 that are largely targeted to intermediate riders with a pace of 12—13 mph. They’re intended to be moderately-paced rides providing exercise, but also an opportunity to meet other local riders and learn new routes. Rides will be 25—35 miles in length and get longer throughout the season. Riders should bring water and helmets, have bikes in good mechanical condition, and be comfortable with group rides on local roads.
